Help Support Local Business

March 25, 2020

Every industry has felt the impacts of Coronavirus this past week, but retailers and restaurants have been among the most heavily impacted, as social distancing has forced many of them to radically change how they operate, or close their doors entirely. These types of businesses are a key part of what makes neighborhoods vibrant and unique, so it is now more important than ever to patronize them, as you are able.  Doing so is a win-win for consumers: you get the delicious food and supplies that you need, while supporting local retailers and their employees.

Below is an update on the businesses in our neighborhoods that remain open at this time. Please note that this information is subject to change, and we encourage you to check our social media channels (@BryantParkNYC and @34thStNYC) and websites (Bryantpark.org and 34thstreet.org) for updates, as well as the social media channels and websites of each respective business.

On 34th Street, most stores are now temporarily closed, but will open as soon as they are able. Sprint (138 W. 34th Street), T-Mobile (124 W. 34th Street), and Verizon (1293 Broadway) are open limited hours for customers in need of emergency repairs.

Target Herald Square (112 W. 34th Street) is operating daily during their regular hours, 7am-9pm. The first hour of business on Wednesdays (7am-8am) is reserved for vulnerable shoppers, including elderly persons, pregnant women, and those with underlying health conditions. Target includes a CVS Pharmacy inside the store, which operates Monday-Friday, from 10am-7pm. The pharmacy’s phone number is 212-216-0070.

Most restaurants in the District are closed as well, but the following continue to offer pickup and delivery:

At Bryant Park, Wafels & Dinges, Le Pain Quotidien, Joe Coffee, Fever-Tree Porch, and Bryant Park Grill and Cafe are all closed until further notice, but Breads Bakery remains open daily 8am-7pm. Order online or call 212-633-2253. Joe Coffee also continues to accept and fulfill online orders through their website.

Around the Bryant Park neighborhood, many fast-casual eateries are offering pickup and delivery, including:

These lists are not exhaustive, and the situation is always developing. If you have a favorite spot, check it out online to see if it remains open. We urge one and all to support local businesses during these challenging days.
